…on a CARPETRIDE

PA is RED, Fred.

November 4, 2008 · 32 Comments

I have been on the ground in Scranton and Wilkes-Barre, PA the last 3 days making calls, canvassing, doing visibility…and it’s red, folks…it’s red…Democrats are p*ssed off with how Hillary had the nomination stolen from her, with all the question marks the democratic candidate has hovering around him like a dirty cloud, with the outrageous (but revealing) statements made by both he and his running mate, and so many other reasons.

Harriet, Thelma & Louise, and the Voters Formerly Known as Hillary Supporters (PUMA’s) rallied our cause in this corridor and have clearly helped turn the color of the state.

I was called racist, given the finger umpteen times, called stupid, pathetic, etc…all by those supporting Obama.  I have never experienced this kind of meanness before in an election—even when Jesse Helms was running against Harvey Gantt—I never heard these things.  One Obama supporter who held a poster near me kept yelling out “We don’t want an unqualified woman in the White House!”.  There are many ways of demeaning women and this is one.  I know he said it on purpose.

Here’s some pics.  The Scranton Fish Company img_1211was just opposite the Democrats for McCain HQ, and I just had to have a pic in front of it.

Great story – thanks for the pics!
You will really be instrumental in changing the course of the events today – more so than those of us who will just vote! Thank you!

    Carpetride,

I have know the fine people of PA will defeat Obama ever since their rousing support of Hillary in the primaries! OH will be right there too, and I still say NY will tip the scales red for McCain/Palin as well!

Well, I admire everyone with their blogs and those with their luggage that took it to the road. McCain was smart, he knew that many had traveled for Hillary and were ticked off and not going to take it anymore.

We’re Not Gonna Take It Anymore Obama and the Media!!

    Sarahhhh!
You rock…I wish I could’ve stayed in Scranton with you and Harriet and the rest of the awesome Dems for McCain, PUMAs etc. to soak the real news on the ground.
I felt we were making our presence known — it seems like you got an even better glimpse of things.
    Red Fred, indeed!
Even if McCain loses – I so want to see him take Pennsylvania. Obama’s latest comments on the coal industry should be a wake up call to voters in the Appalachian Swath – Hillary voters – that Obama-Biden do not care and never did for average voting Democrats!
    hugs!

    bella, Grail, woman voter
we’ve all practiced the ultimate in a democracy by staying engaged with the political process and doing our part to hold those accountable for their actions, keep the standards high, etc…
    2012 Ladies…2012…

Bless you all. If McCain pulls this thing off, he owes it to the thousands who put principle before party and stood for decency over money and intimidation. Thank you. I can’t tell you how much I admire the sheer guts it takes to just say no.

    claudia, amy:
    we ALL did it.

What’s it look like for the Murtha Murgatroid race?

  • Mary // November 4, 2008 at 4:12 pm

I am in Alabama and just voted McCain. I voted for Hillary in the primaries and was so disappointed by the way she was treated. I know Al is supposed to be Red but I didn’t care to take a chance on Obama stealing another election.

  • The Audacity of Truth // November 4, 2008 at 4:36 pm

    Breaking News:

McCain Campaign filing lawsuit against New Hampshire Sect. of State – GOP officials are being kept away from new voter registration forms at polling places. They are supposed to be allowed to seem them to see if process is being followed the way it’s supposed to be.

  • hnwoman // November 4, 2008 at 7:31 pm

Former Dem – just voted for McCain in NH.
In NH you can register and vote on the same day. I’M in southern NH and we have had an influx of Obama supporters from just a few ,iles away in MA. This is why it’s so important to monitor the new voter registration as it is being done.

  • carpetride // November 4, 2008 at 8:21 pm

    thanks, TX!

    pacific, hn—
voter fraud, voter intimidation, lawsuits already filed…. is this what democracy looks like????

a friend in NC just told me crazy stuff at her polling place. i hope to have pics soon.

  • tiffa31 // November 4, 2008 at 9:27 pm

i hope you are right about PA. It’ll definitely be close but im not sure there is enough population in the middle of PA and western PA to compete with Obama supporters in Harrisburg and Philly.

  • Carol Hummel // November 4, 2008 at 10:09 pm

I live in Pa. and I know, we will win the Election for McCain/Palin

  • Anne Marie // November 4, 2008 at 11:55 pm

I am from PA. I voted “Red” for the first time in 34 years at 7:00 A.M. I would be shocked if PA didn’t turn red this year. PA just loves Hillary. Furthermore, the derogatory “clinging to guns and religion” remarks, coupled with the Rev. Wright associations were never forgotten.

As for western PA, those people will vote values, family, and country. They will vote McCain. In addition, they are reliable voters. I think the same will hold true of central PA, with the exception of the young people.

MANY Democrats in the Scranton area are extremely upset by the DNC’s treatment of Hillary, and they simply don’t trust Obama. So…I am a PA Democrat who has yet to hear another PA Democrat say “I’m voting for Obama.” Although many will vote for “O,” I find it interesting that my associations with life-long Democrats don’t find a single vote for him. So…I am very encouraged. Also, I see alot of folks driving around with “Another Democrat for McCain” bumper stickers.

Keep the faith. Get out and vote. Take back our country and our party.

  • stophate // November 5, 2008 at 4:41 am

    PA is BLUE Hugh.

  • Joe O. // November 5, 2008 at 5:01 am

Never drink your own kool-aid. PA is blue…America is Big blue! Obama is change. Obama is the President Elect.

  • neelster // November 5, 2008 at 11:20 am

You need your own Ms. Cleo hotline.

  • JOE G // November 5, 2008 at 6:50 pm

Someone check on Ann Marie and see how bad the shock.

I want to thank the NO DEAL PUMA people… the Democratice party is now bigger and better… and contains fewer racist!

  • carpetride // November 5, 2008 at 7:30 pm

    Joe G,
No, thank you–for helping us to finally see that the Democratic Party is corrupted.

And thank you for helping us to see that the Democratic Party is actually populated by women-haters who use the mask of liberal and open-minded to assuage their self-loathing.

  • truthisgold // November 8, 2008 at 12:54 am

I thank all who worked so hard in Scranton, Wilkes Barre, and the rest of Pennsylvania. We fought hard for what we believe in and with few exceptions, worked together to elect our candidate. Many will or have already left the Democratic party for another; many speak of forming a new one. Many are still in shock at the idea that an unqualified, unvetted interloper could buy the presidency of the United States. One thing, however, is certain: most of us will never stop fighting to restore fair elections, truth in media and eradicate sexism and partisanship from the equation in American politics. It was great working with you, Carpetride, Carol, Ann, Joe, Darrah, Al, Jeanette, Anthony, Hilvania, Jack and so many others. I will not forget you, or the principles for which we continue to fight.

  • truthisgold // November 8, 2008 at 7:37 pm

57 out of 67 counties went for McCain. I would venture to suggest that the other ten should have been scrutinized for voter registration fraud.
